Coastal Calm: My Dreamy UK Staycation at Saltmoore

It’s funny how sometimes the breaks that stay with you the longest aren’t the ones you fly thousands of miles for. They’re the ones close to home, quiet, and deeply grounding. That was exactly what Saltmoore became for me, a 2 night coastal staycation that turned into a gentle reminder to just be.

Saltmoore isn’t your average staycation spot. From the moment we arrived, I was struck by the calming palette – muted neutrals, linen textures, reclaimed wood, and panoramic windows that let the light pour in. It felt like something out of my Pinterest board: modern, minimal, and effortlessly chic, without trying too hard. Think laid back luxury with just the right amount of intention in the design.

Day one

We arrived just in time for lunch, classic fish and chips, of course. Salty, golden, and piping hot, eaten on the terrace with the fresh coastal breeze in the air. There’s something so nostalgic about fish and chips by the coast. It just hits differently.

After lunch, we checked into Room 402, our charming dog friendly cottage. It had its own little terrace that opened up to a beautiful garden view and the main hotel itself. Sox immediately made herself at home, trotting around like she owned the place. The interiors were just as lovely, cosy with warm tones and thoughtful little touches that made it feel like more than just a hotel stay. I must say I was swooning over the bathroom interior!

I quickly freshened up and headed to the spa for a bit of “me” time. It was exactly what I needed to shift into full relaxation mode. A few moments in the sauna, a warm herbal tea, and I felt completely reset.

Before we knew it, it was time for dinner and bed! That night, we simply relaxed. No emails, no scrolling. Just peace.

Day two

We woke early the next morning and made our way to breakfast. You know the drill, fluffy pancakes, hot coffee, and fresh juice that tasted like holiday mornings always should. Afterwards, we took a quick 10-minute walk down to the beach. I mean it was literally on our doorstep. The salty air, wide open space, and crashing waves did more for my headspace than any to do list ever could.

Later that afternoon, we put our phones away completely (which honestly felt like a mini achievement in itself) and played a few old school board games we found in the room. It was such a simple joy – laughing, being silly, and totally present. Just before dinner we took one last wander around the grounds. It was quiet & peaceful. And in a world that’s constantly on, that feeling is so rare.

In just 48 hours, Saltmoore reminded me of something simple but powerful.

You don’t always need to go far to feel far away. Beauty lives in the quiet moments – the slow walks, the fresh air and the calmness. And when you find a place that gives you all that and more? Hold on to it.
