Getting Around in Paris and Currency
Getting around Paris is a breeze with its awesome Metro system, buses, and trams. The Metro stops are near all the main attractions, making it super easy to explore. Fancy a bike ride? Grab a Vélib’ bike or take a leisurely stroll along the Seine. And don’t miss a ride on the charming riverboats for a unique view of the city! If that fails you can always opt for a local taxi or an Uber!
Paris uses the Euro (€). Most places take cards, but it’s handy to have some cash for small buys, markets, or cute little cafes that might not. ATMs are everywhere and often have English options.
Where to Stay
When it comes to choosing where to stay in Paris, two standout options from my visits last year are Hotel Hana and Hotel Bourg Tibourg. Both offer unique vibes that cater to different tastes.

Paris is a food lover’s dream come true, with so many incredible spots to grab a bite. Whether you’re enjoying a lazy brunch, digging into a delicious dinner, or exploring local markets for some tasty treats, every meal in Paris is bound to be memorable. Here are some of the places I’ve visited during my visits in Paris:
Loulou – Nestled in the Louvre, Loulou is a super chic spot. The blend of French and Italian dishes, plus the views of the Tuileries Garden and the Eiffel Tower, make it perfect for a romantic date or a leisurely lunch.
Girafe– Right by the Trocadéro, Giraffe gives you stunning Eiffel Tower views and fantastic seafood. It’s got that swanky Art Deco vibe, so it’s a great choice for a special night out.
Daroco – If you’re in the mood for Italian, Daroco in the 2nd arrondissement is your place. It’s got a cool, trendy atmosphere and their pizzas are to die for.
Bonnie – Bonnie in the Marais offers fresh, seasonal dishes in a relaxed setting. It’s perfect for a chill brunch or dinner, especially if you’re into vegetarian and vegan options. The dining room also has great views of the city.
Gigi – Gigi in the 8th arrondissement serves up classic Italian with a touch of elegance. It’s all about fine ingredients and stylish vibes – perfect for when you want to treat yourself. Another spot for taking iconic Eiffel tower pictures.
Boeuf Sur le Toit – This historic brasserie in the 8th arrondissement gives you that old-school French dining experience with live jazz music. Think foie gras, escargots, and steak frites in an Art Deco setting. It’s the perfect spot for date night or a special occasion.
Perruche – Perched on top of Printemps Haussmann, Perruche offers gorgeous views and a mix of French and Mediterranean dishes. A great spot for a relaxed lunch or watching the sunset over the city.
Brunch/Coffee Spots in Paris
For a cozy brunch or coffee break, here are some cool spots to check out:
Carette – Located in Place des Vosges, Carette is a classic Parisian café known for its elegant pastries and iconic hot chocolate. It’s perfect for a fancy breakfast or a soothing afternoon tea. Be prepared to wait in line as this is usually very busy spot. Oh, and if you want the perfect Instagram picture be sure to sit outside.
The French Bastards – This trendy bakery in the 11th arrondissement offers incredible breads, pastries, and sandwiches. It’s got a modern vibe and is perfect for brunch or a quick coffee.
Café Fino– A cozy café in the 9th arrondissement, Café Fino is where you’ll find great coffee and homemade pastries. It’s quite an instagrammable spot so be sure to check this one out.
Rendel Cafe – Rendel Cafe in the 10th arrondissement offers a delicious brunch menu and specialty coffees. With its rustic decor and friendly atmosphere, it’s a local favorite.
La Copain– In the 3rd arrondissement, La Copain is a trendy spot with a great brunch menu and artisanal coffee. The minimalist decor and relaxed vibe make it perfect for a laid-back brunch.
Umami Matcha Café – Specialising in matcha-based drinks and dishes, Umami Matcha Café in the 3rd arrondissement is a must-visit for matcha lovers.
Wild & The Moon – This health-focused café in the Marais offers organic, plant-based dishes and cold-pressed juices. It’s eco-friendly and perfect for health-conscious foodies. I enjoyed having breakfast here during my visit and would highly recommend the acai bowls.
Things to Do/Places to Visit in Paris
If there is one place on earth where boredom doesn’t exist, it’s Paris. Here’s a list of must-visit spots that will make your trip truly unforgettable:
Eiffel Tower – No trip to Paris is complete without a visit to the Eiffel Tower. Whether you’re taking in the views from the top or picnicking beneath its towering presence, it’s a quintessential Paris experience.
Arc de Triomphe – Standing proudly at the top of the Champs-Élysées, the Arc de Triomphe is a symbol of French history and pride. Climb to the top for some stunning views of the city.
Louvre – The Louvre is not just a museum; it’s an experience. Home to thousands of works of art, including the Mona Lisa, you’ll want to spend hours (or days) exploring its vast galleries. I am yet to visit this museum but it could be on the cards for 2025! Book your tickets here.
Notre Dame – Despite the tragic fire, Notre Dame remains a must-visit. Its gothic architecture and rich history continue to captivate visitors from around the world. Be sure to check out the view from the towers if they’re open.
Seine River Cruise – For a unique perspective on Paris, hop on a Seine River cruise. You’ll glide past many of the city’s famous landmarks while enjoying a relaxing ride on the water. I highly recommend this during summer!
Avenue des Champs-Élysées – Paris is a shopping paradise, whether you’re looking for high-end fashion or charming boutiques, Paris has it all. One of the most famous shopping streets in the world, the Champs-Élysées offers everything from luxury brands to trendy shops. It’s a perfect place for a leisurely stroll and some retail therapy.
Galerie Lafayette Haussmann – This iconic department store is a must-visit for fashion lovers. With its stunning architecture and a wide range of high-end and affordable brands, it’s a shopper’s paradise.
Jardin – Take a break from the hustle and bustle with a visit to one of Paris’s beautiful gardens. Whether it’s Jardin des Tuileries or Jardin du Luxembourg, you’ll find lush greenery and peaceful spots to relax.
